What is the industry standard software for game modelers/programmers/developers?

Industry standards for gaming are very high. Im studying computer proggraming and gaming now and it is quite difficult. The industry standard would need you to require some form of helpful instructions, highscores (if applicable), your game must serve a purpose and need to give a message in some cases. But the main thing is to make sure your game is entertaining throughout the entire game. That means not to much to read, it has to respond to what people want, choose your genre wisely, make sure the game actually works w/o glitches, add cheats (if necessary) to make the game a litle more fun to play around with. Thats is all you need for basic standards in the gaming industry.
